Vegetables fail safety checks
November 30, 2011
Five vegetables containing metal contaminant cadmium have failed Centre for Food Safety tests.
They exceeded the legal limit of 0.1 parts per million.
They were mushroom, asparagus, Chinese kale and two Ceylon spinach samples.
The centre has ordered the vendors to stop selling the products and to dispose of the affected food.
It will take follow-up samples and issue warning letters.
