Support for transport concession urged

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung urges all transport operators to discharge their corporate social responsibility and co-operate with the Government on the $2 transport concession scheme.
 
Speaking to the media after a radio talk-show today, Mr Cheung said the Government will compress the time frame to ensure the scheme will take off as quickly as possible. He added the proposal is subject to the approval of the Legislative Council’s Finance Committee and must be approved to be part of the Budget to be announced next year.
 
He hopes the transport operators will do their best to co-operate with the Government on the scheme and build an inclusive and compassionate society.
 
He added the Government has an open mind towards the proposed community care service voucher scheme and will launch it as soon as the infrastructure is ready.
