Financial Secretary Paul Chan officiated at the opening ceremony of the Hunan Liaison Unit of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in Changsha, Hunan, today.
The event also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.
Mr Chan said the unit will strengthen exchanges and co-operation on the economic, trade and cultural fronts between Hong Kong and Hunan.
It will also provide services to better meet the needs of Hong Kong people working, studying and living in Hunan.
Mr Chan said a four-week exhibition on the HKSAR's 20th anniversary will open next week at the Changsha Museum.
Earlier today, Mr Chan called on Hunan Province Executive Vice Governor Chen Xiangqun to discuss enhancing co-operation between their two jurisdictions.
He visited the Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone and enterprises there.
He also inspected a Hong Kong investment project in Changsha, and met Hong Kong people doing business and working in Hunan.
