The Travel Agents (Fee Concessions) Regulation 2017, which seeks to give effect to licence fee waivers, was gazetted today.
The waivers are part of the short-term relief measures announced by the Financial Secretary in his 2017-18 Budget in view of the challenging outlook for the tourism industry.
The regulation provides that some fees under Schedule 1 to the Travel Agents Regulations payable during the 12-month concession period from November 20 this year will be waived.
They include the fee for a licence or renewal of a licence, the fee for a duplicate licence for display at branches, the fee for amending a licence to add a new branch address and the application fee for a new licence.
The regulation will be tabled at the Legislative Council on June 7.
