Foreign currency reserves up

Hong Kong’s foreign currency reserve assets increased by US$1.1 billion to US$386.2 billion in December, the Monetary Authority announced today.

 

Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, foreign currency reserve assets at the end of December amounted to US$378 billion.

 

The reserve assets represent over seven times the currency in circulation or 48% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
