Cyber security seminar held

September 23, 2016

The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer held a cyber security seminar today to outline emerging cyber security threats and risk mitigation measures.

The seminar was part of this year's Cyber Security Programme.

It was attended by representatives from the Government, industry associations and solution providers.

Best practices in information security on online privacy, mobile payment security, mobile app security and security measures for mobile platforms were discussed.

Officiating at the seminar, Deputy Government Chief Information Officer Victor Lam said the growing popularity of smartphones and mobile devices are making them new targets for hackers.

Mr Lam reminded people to watch their mobile security and be alert to ransomware attack to prevent leakage of personal data and financial loss.

People should back up data periodically and update operating systems and applications promptly, and should not install or use applications from unknown sources, visit suspicious websites or click on suspicious hyperlinks.
