The Causeway Bay bookseller incident will not affect investor confidence in Hong Kong.
Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Professor KC Chan made the comment to the media today after attending a radio programme.
"I do not think [the incident] will affect investor confidence, per se. A lot of international press have a lot of interest in what is happening in this international city, so I think it is very important for us to explain to them what is going on and to be clear about Hong Kong's political and legal systems.
"I think what investors really want to know is whether Hong Kong can uphold our rule of law and open market, which of course is undoubtedly something that we absolutely can do."
