Financial advisers' report released

May 30, 2016

The Financial Services Development Council today released its third annual report for the period from April 2015 to March 2016.

In the past year, the council released eight reports covering high potential areas including the asset management industry, financial transactions booking, exchange-traded derivatives, exchange traded funds, equity crowdfunding and Chinese enterprises that are "going global".

The council also sponsored and participated in a wide range of marketing campaigns, including the Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong, the "Think Asia, Think Hong Kong" campaign in Chicago, the "In Style.Hong Kong" Symposium in Jakarta and business luncheons in Mumbai and Seoul to promote Hong Kong's position as a key global financial centre.

The body also sent a delegation to visit Shanghai in January to learn more about its latest financial market developments.

In addition to organising a Career Day, the council held a series of forums under its Practitioner Speakers Series where speakers shared their experience with university students and young graduates on how to develop a financial services career and the skill sets required by financial institutions.

"Looking ahead, Hong Kong will have a significant role to play in the continuing internationalisation of the Renminbi and in the new Belt & Road Initiative. These will create vast business opportunities for the financial services industry and provide new job opportunities for graduates and market participants," said council chairman Laura Cha.
