HKEx chairman reappointed

May 10, 2016

Chow Chung-kong has been reappointed as Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Chairman with immediate effect.

Mr Chow's chairmanship will coincide with his term as a HKEx Board director, which will expire at the end of the 2018 annual general meeting.

Announcing the approval today, Financial Secretary John Tsang said the Government is confident that with Mr Chow's leadership, HKEx will strive to enhance Hong Kong's market quality and competitiveness, and strengthen the city's position as the premier capital-raising and risk-management platform in the region.

HKEx directors elected Mr Chow as chairman at the April 29 board meeting. The Financial Secretary appointed him as a board director in March for a two-year term.
