Secretary for Innovation & Technology Nicholas Yang met Shenzhen Vice Mayor Ai Xuefeng and visited inno-tech enterprises in Shenzhen today.
The officials agreed to grasp the opportunities from the National 13th Five-Year Plan and leverage the unique advantages of Hong Kong and Shenzhen to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
Mr Yang said Hong Kong is a super-connector with its distinctive advantages, such as its world-class universities, research and development talent, expertise in international standards and platforms, and its sound legal system and business environment that is integrated with the rest of the world.
Hong Kong can serve as a platform for Mainland corporations to go global and facilitates corporations from Hong Kong, the Mainland and the rest of the world to collaborate and engage in research and development, he added.
Mr Yang later visited two innovative technology enterprises - Huawei and Kuang-Chi.
