The Communications & Technology Branch of the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau will be known as the Communications & Creative Industries Branch from today, to reflect the change of responsibilities under its purview.
In line with the establishment of the Innovation & Technology Bureau, the policy responsibilities relevant to the Innovation & Technology Commission and the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer have been transferred to the new policy bureau.
The branch will continue to take policy carriage in respect of broadcasting, telecommunications, development of creative industries and control of obscene and indecent articles matters.
The bureau's Commerce, Industry & Tourism Branch is not affected by the re-organisation. It will continue to take charge of policy matters on Hong Kong's external commercial relations and commercial relations with the Mainland, industry support, intellectual property protection, investment promotion, tourism, consumer protection, competition policy and trade facilitation.
