Hongkong Post welcomes the Director of Audit's report and is following up on its recommendations, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So said today.
The report issued yesterday highlighted that Hongkong Post staff regularly work overtime, which totalled around $180 million in allowances.
Mr So told reporters today that the postal service is demand-driven, so at times when the demand level has increased, overtime work is needed.
He noted that Hongkong Post has strict rules to manage overtime work.
Mr So added that the Government takes full note of the Director of Audit's recommendations, and he is sure Hongkong Post will implement the measures to ensure public resources are used appropriately.
