Gregory So urges end to filibuster

October 30, 2015

Using filibustering to delay establishing an Innovation & Technology Bureau is not in Hong Kong's best interest, Commerce & Economic Development Secretary Gregory So says.

He made those remarks after the Legislative Council Finance Committee failed to endorse funding for the proposed bureau today due to some lawmakers’ delaying tactics.

Mr So said it was disappointing that the new bureau was no closer to materialising, given that 32 hours - excluding the time spent in other panels and LegCo meetings - had been spent talking about forming it.

He urged lawmakers to vote in favour of establishing the bureau when the committee reconvenes next Friday.
