The Inland Revenue Department has issued an alert on fraudulent short messages purporting to be issued by the department.
The office says it does not issue such short messages to taxpayers.
The messages ask taxpayers to make a return call to a telephone number which does not belong to the department.
The office urged people to stay alert and contact the department’s hotline - 187 8088 - or send an email to taxinfo@ird.gov.hk for further enquiries.
