Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So started his tour of the Americas yesterday by meeting Chilean officials and business leaders in Santiago.
Mr So met Minister of Agriculture Carlos Furche, Under Secretary of Finance Alejandro Micco, and President of the China-Chile Committee for Political Dialogue of the Chilean National Congress Roberto Ramirez.
Speaking at a luncheon, he said Chile is Hong Kong's second largest South American trading partner, and they have long been close trading partners in wine.
As Hong Kong is the gateway to the growing Mainland China wine market, he said there is room to expand wine trade between Hong Kong and Chile to meet growing Mainland demand.
He later met Chinese Ambassador to Chile Li Baorong.
