Invest Hong Kong has removed the Uber case study from its website in accordance with standard procedures, as the company is being investigated for allegedly operating illegally.

Responding to media enquiries today, the department said there are legal ways for companies to offer car rental services via mobile applications, but not all mobile car booking apps can meet the legal requirements.

The department said it aims to ensure that the companies it supports are aware of the regulatory regime for their particular business. It is then the responsibility of the company concerned to ensure regulatory compliance.
