HK-Macau meeting held

July 17, 2015

The Eighth Hong Kong Macau Co-operation High Level Meeting was held in Hong Kong today. Financial Secretary John Tsang and Macau's Secretary for Economy & Finance Lionel Leong co-chaired the meeting.

The two sides reviewed their co-operation work and achievements in the past year, and conducted in-depth discussion on the co-operation directions for the coming year.

Mr Tsang said the two places have laid solid foundations for co-operation on various fronts and have agreed to forge closer ties on economic and trade co-operation this year.

The two cities will start negotiation on a closer economic partnership arrangement later this year to further promote trade and business opportunities.

The meeting noted that the development strategy of 'One Belt, One Road' has brought new opportunities for the future development of the two places.

The two sides will continue to seize the time to take forward construction work of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, and work towards forging an early consensus on cross-boundary transport arrangements upon its opening.
