Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So says the Government is monitoring the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome situation in Korea and its impact on Hong Kong’s tourism industry.
Speaking to reporters today, Mr So said he believes the travel industry will come up with products to satisfy the travelling needs of local residents in view of the suspension of tours to Korea for the time being.
On inbound tourism, he said the Tourism Board will focus on short-haul markets, as the economic situation in Europe and the US is still unstable.
On the possible change in shareholding at ATV, Mr So said the Communications Authority has not received an application from the broadcaster, adding that any such application would have to be handled by the authority according to set procedures and the law.
