IT Fest showcases achievements

March 24, 2015

The International IT Fest 2015, featuring events that showcase achievements in Hong Kong's information and communications technology sector, will be held from April 9 to 24.

Speaking at a press conference on the event, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So said with enthusiastic support from the industry, the fest has expanded in scale over the years, providing an ideal platform for industry players of local and overseas ICT sectors to share their experiences and foster co-operation.

A five-day Hong Kong Digital Life Carnival that invites fest goers to experience the latest digital products, taste wines and sample food, will launch on April 9.

Activities for students will be staged, including collective coding by 1,000 students to set a world record at the opening ceremony, the Inter-School IT Elite Challenge with more than 130 schools participating, and IT exploration tours for secondary students to visit local IT facilities and technology companies to stimulate their interest in IT.

To show support for innovation, local inventions and products will be used in the fest, which include PiCode, developed by the University of Science & Technology, Altai's smart outdoor WiFi antenna, the check-in and instant name-badge printing service provided by EventXtra, and the events search engine Timable.

The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer organised the event, in collaboration with the ICT industry.
