Copyright consultation starts

December 09, 2014

The Government today launched a consultation to seek views on a set of new rules for regulating proceedings before the Copyright Tribunal.

The new rules will replace the Copyright Tribunal Rules currently in force.

The Intellectual Property Department said the draft rules seek to make proceedings as flexible, convenient and cost-effective as possible in accordance with contemporary dispute resolution practices.

In 2009 the Government invited views on the drafting approach and direction for the new rules. After taking into account the views received and the latest dispute resolution practices and developments, the draft rules have been prepared for further consultation.

Views should reach the department by February 9.
