Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So today started his two-day visit to Taiwan to promote co-operation in tourism between Hong Kong and the island.
He met Taiwan tourism chief David Hsieh in Taipei before heading to Taichung to speak at the a networking function between tourism trade partners.
He noted that Taiwan is Hong Kong's second largest visitor source market while Taiwan is a very popular tourist destination for Hong Kong people, adding there is strong complementarity between the two places in developing multi-destination itineraries.
Mr So will give a keynote speech at the 2014 Hong Kong-Taichung Intercity Forum tomorrow and will inspect tourist attractions before returning to Hong Kong tomorrow night.
