The filibustering in the Legislative Council's Finance Committee meetings poses a serious problem, Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan says, as it is delaying he implementation of many livelihood measures.
Speaking to the media today, Prof Chan said many of the measures, such as the low income allowance, construction of a new hospital and the rental allowance for public housing tenants, are meant to improve people's livelihood and are welcomed by the Hong Kong community.
The Government is trying its best to secure more meeting time with LegCo, but it is not likely that the outstanding items could be approved this summer, he added.
