May 15, 2012
Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So opened the Hong Kong + Japan: Crossing Partnership in Creativity cultural project in Tokyo today, to enhance bilateral exchange.
It comprises the Tian Tian Xiang Shang statue exhibition and art workshop, and the Creative Asia Forum.
Speaking at the forum, Mr So said he hopes the project will boost creative collaboration between Hong Kong and Japan.
"Through co-operation and mutual understanding we can expand the creative circle of both places by bringing more creative thinkers together and nurturing creative talents to enhance our overall competitiveness."
The creative and cultural industries have been identified as one of six areas in which there is great potential for growth and development, he said, adding the Hong Kong Government will help the creative sector on issues such as work space, support events and nurturing talent.
Mr So later toured the exhibition, which features more than 300 statues made by Hong Kong and Japanese designers and students.
The exhibition runs until May 20.
