Gloomy September recorded

September was gloomier than usual with rainy weather dominating the early part of the month.

 

The total duration of sunshine recorded was 135.7 hours, 36.6 hours below the normal figure and the seventh lowest on record for September, the Hong Kong Observatory said today.

 

However, the mean temperature was 27.9 degrees Celsius, 0.2 of a degree higher than normal. 

 

The month's total rainfall was 323.1mm, slightly below normal, while the accumulated rainfall since January 1 was 2,264.5mm, 1% above normal.

 

Affected by Severe Typhoon Megi, the weather was very hot and hazy on September 27, reaching a maximum of 34.9 degrees, the highest of the month and the second highest on record for September.
