KS Wong starts Japan visit

Courtesy call:  Secretary for the Environment KS Wong (left) meets Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua in Tokyo.

Secretary for the Environment KS Wong started his Japan visit in Tokyo today by meeting officials and organisation representatives to learn about local environmental initiatives.

 

He first met Institute for Building Environment & Energy Conservation President Shuzo Murakami to learn about the latest measures to enhance the energy efficiency of Japan's buildings.

 

They also discussed strategies to promote environmentally-friendly buildings and energy saving.

 

Mr Wong then visited Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua.

 

Mr Wong later met with Special Advisor to the Governor on International Affairs of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Hideaki Mizukoshi.

 

He was briefed on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic & Paralympic Games High-level Sustainability Plan, the action plan in response to climate change and related carbon reduction efforts, waste reduction policies, the conservation of biodiversity, and the participation in coalitions of cities like the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.

 

Mr Wong also met Minister of the Environment Koichi Yamamoto.

 

He will travel to Niigata Prefecture tomorrow.
