KS Wong hails solar students

January 10, 2016

Secretary for the Environment KS Wong has commended the students participating in the New Energy New Generation Solar Car Competition.

Officiating at the prize presentation ceremony today, he called on the youngsters to support the Government's energy-saving policies and measures to combat climate change.

He also encouraged them to continue exploring ways to better use renewable energy for the benefit of the environment.

The competition was one of the Energy Saving for All youth competitions held by the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department, with a tertiary education category and a secondary education category.

The judging panel was impressed by the innovation of the 12 participating teams and the unique features of their solar cars. It found the designs of some awarded entries were on par with international standards.
