Secretary for the Environment KS Wong says the Government did not sidestep the Legislative Council regarding its landfill-extension plans.
In response to legislators' comments on the issue, Mr Wong told reporters today the Government has followed established procedure in seeking funds for a consultancy study and preparation work for a landfill extension.
“The actual expenses would only be made after the major project's funding to be approved by LegCo soon.”
Mr Wong also said the Government has strived to boost waste reduction and recycling.
