Environment chief concludes Europe visit

May 01, 2012
Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau ended his visit to Europe in London today, where he met with a think-tank and saw the latest green diesel-electric new London bus.

Mr Yau had a meeting with international affairs think-tank Chatham House to discuss the adoption of business solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

He also visited Transport for London to take a look at the new London bus, a modern, fully accessible vehicle that uses the latest green diesel-electric hybrid technology.

He and the bus company management discussed using green and low-carbon technologies for public transportation.

Attending a luncheon hosted by the Hong Kong’s London Office, Mr Yau talked to the local business community about Hong Kong's role as the gateway to the "green" Pearl River Delta, as well as possible collaboration between the Hong Kong Government and neighbouring cities in Guangdong province to realise the goal of improving air quality.

Mr Yau will leave London for Hong Kong this evening.
