Only 2.8mm of rain fell in Hong Kong in December, less than a tenth of the normal figure, the Hong Kong Observatory said today.
It was also colder than usual with a monthly mean temperature of 16.9 degrees Celsius, 0.9 degrees below normal.
Annual rainfall for 2011 was 1,476.7mm, down 38% on the normal figure.
One tropical cyclone occurred over the South China Sea and the western North Pacific in the month.
