Environment chief to visit Scandinavia

Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau will visit Malmo in Sweden, Copenhagen in Denmark and Langesund in Norway, September 16 to 19, to enhance environmental co-operation with the three countries.
 
Tomorrow Mr Yau will visit a housing estate in Malmo to learn about the application of green technology in renovation. He will speak at a luncheon co-organised by the Royal Sweden Hong Kong Business Council, the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (London) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. He will then meet Malmo Mayor Ilmar Reepalu and sign a sustainability charter on closer co-operation.
 
In Copenhagen Mr Yau will call on Permanent Secretary of State, Danish Ministry of Climate & Energy, Thomas Egebo, and then speak at a dinner co-organised by the Denmark Hong Kong Trade Association.
 
On September 17 Mr Yau will attend the 10th European Geoparks Conference in Langesund to discuss issues related to geoconservation, geotourism and local development, and will highlight Hong Kong's geological heritage.
