Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung visited Yau Tsim Mong District today to inspect an elderly centre and a social service facility.
At the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Association Neighbourhood Elderly Activities Centre he joined in a party to send birthday wishes to elderly residents born in August.
He chatted with the seniors and was pleased to note some of those aged 65 to 69 are benefiting from the enhanced Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme.
The eligibility age for the scheme was lowered from 70 to 65 last month.
Mr Cheung then visited the Mong Kok Kai Fong Association Chan Hing Social Service Centre.
He chatted with ethnic minority women and children to learn more about their daily lives and tasted their homemade snacks.
He encouraged different sectors of the community to continue promoting racial harmony.
He also met District Councillors to listen to their views on local matters.
