Acting Chief Executive Matthew Cheung today expressed his sadness over the death of former Tsuen Wan District Council Chairman Chau How-chen.
He said Mr Chau was respected by different sectors of the community for his long and outstanding public service.
"While serving as the Tsuen Wan District Council Chairman, he dedicated himself to enhancing communication between the district and the Government and made tremendous contributions to the development of the district."
Mr Chau was an outstanding district leader who gave staunch support to community building projects, sports activities and charitable work, Mr Cheung added.
Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah also expressed his condolences, saying Mr Chau was committed to district administration as well as sports and community development.
"He was a role model for caring for and nurturing young generations."
