The snatching of confidential government documents by two lawmakers during a Legislative Council meeting last week has damaged the relationship between the administration and the legislature.
This was the message from Acting Chief Executive Carrie Lam, who spoke to reporters before today's Executive Council meeting, saying the legislators' behaviour was unacceptable.
The incident happened at a joint meeting of the Legislative Council Panel on Housing and Panel on Development on November 15.
Legislator Leung Kwok-hung grabbed Under Secretary for Development Eric Ma's folder and passed it to legislator Chu Hoi-dick to read its confidential documents.
Mrs Lam said such behaviour is uncivilised and damages LegCo’s image.
She said she wrote to Legislative Council Chairman Andrew Leung expressing the Government’s concern over the incident and asking the council to take follow up action.
She added the chairman said he will refer the issue to the LegCo Rules of Procedure Committee.
