Returning Officers received 1,553 nomination forms during the nomination period for the Election Committee Subsector Ordinary Elections, which closed today, except for the religious subsector.

One-hundred-and-thirty-five nominations were submitted today.

Apart from the nominee who withdrew from the poll in the medical subsector on November 12, a nominee for the Heung Yee Kuk and two nominees for the New Territories District Councils subsectors submitted notices of withdrawal today.

For each subsector and sub-subsector, a poll will be held on December 11 if there is a contested election for that subsector or sub-subsector.

Six designated bodies of the religious subsector handed in nomination forms by the close of the nomination period, involving a total of 400 nominees.

One designated body of the subsector handed in a nomination form today, involving a total of 320 nominees. Nominations of members representing this subsector are returned by six designated bodies.

A full list of the validly-nominated candidates for the election will be published in the Gazette after the Returning Officers have validated and confirmed the eligibility of candidature of the nominees.

The Electoral Affairs Commission will hold two briefing sessions for candidates on November 17 and 18 at the Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre.

Before each briefing session, Returning Officers will determine by drawing lots, the order of the names of candidates of their respective subsectors on ballot papers and the allocation of designated display spots of election advertisements.

Particulars of the nominees will be uploaded to the election website.
