Chief Executive CY Leung says the Government has made a sound achievement in improving poverty with the support of different sectors of the community.
Speaking to the media after the Commission on Poverty Summit today, Mr Leung said the meeting has been held annually since he took office four years ago and the Government has shown determination in improving and solving Hong Kong poverty issues, such as setting the official poverty line.
The poverty line has aroused the community’s attention and understanding of the poverty situation and policy effectiveness.
Solving social problems like poverty is not the Government’s only responsibility, he said, adding the participation and co-ordination of the community is also necessary.
