A delegation will visit Xinjiang and Beijing from tomorrow at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Permanent Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Chang King-yiu will lead the delegation.
While in Xinjian, the delegation will meet the officials there to learn about Xinjiang's work plan and latest developments in support of the Belt & Road Initiative.
The delegation will then proceed to Beijing from October 18 to 20 to meet with the ministry's officials, the National Development & Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and the State Council’s Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office.
They will also make courtesy calls on ministries and offices, as well as learn about the latest developments of the National 13th Five-Year Plan and the Belt & Road Initiative.
Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam will join the visit in Beijing. During his absence, Under Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Ronald Chan will be Acting Secretary.
Since 1999, officials from both sides have been conducting reciprocal visits annually to enhance communication and mutual understanding.
