HK signs Guangdong deals

September 14, 2016

Chief Executive CY Leung today oversaw the signing of nine agreements to boost Hong Kong's ties with Guangdong.

He attended the 19th Plenary of the Hong Kong-Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference in Guangzhou.

He and Guangdong Governor Zhu Xiaodan witnessed the signing of nine agreements, including those on health, education, food safety, tourism, environmental protection, and the Belt & Road Initiative.

Mr Leung also signed an agreement with Guangdong to deal with Mainland rubbish washing up on Hong Kong shores.

Both sides pledged to continue co-operation in youth development and education in the coming year.

The Hong Kong-Guangdong-Macau Higher Education Institution Alliance will also be established within this year to serve as a platform for institutions of the three places to explore collaboration opportunities in various aspects, such as education, technology transfer and commercialisation, and student exchange.
