Chief Executive CY Leung today oversaw the signing of nine agreements to boost Hong Kong's ties with Guangdong.
He attended the 19th Plenary of the Hong Kong-Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference in Guangzhou.
He and Guangdong Governor Zhu Xiaodan witnessed the signing of nine agreements, including those on health, education, food safety, tourism, environmental protection, and the Belt & Road Initiative.
Mr Leung also signed an agreement with Guangdong to deal with Mainland rubbish washing up on Hong Kong shores.
Both sides pledged to continue co-operation in youth development and education in the coming year.
The Hong Kong-Guangdong-Macau Higher Education Institution Alliance will also be established within this year to serve as a platform for institutions of the three places to explore collaboration opportunities in various aspects, such as education, technology transfer and commercialisation, and student exchange.
