Poll cards sent to electors

August 25, 2016

The Registration & Electoral Office has mailed 2016 Legislative Council General Election poll cards to the 3.77 million registered electors to inform them of where they should cast their vote on the September 4 polling day.

Electors can only vote at the polling station as specified on their poll card. They should log in to the Online Voter Information Enquiry System if they have not yet received their poll card to check whether they are registered electors and their designated polling station. They can also call the election hotline 2891 1001.

As in the 2012 Legislative Council Election, the “one-person-two-votes” system will be used in the forthcoming poll in which most electors get one vote each in the geographical constituency and functional constituency.

Mock polling stations will be opened at Leighton Hill Community Hall, Henry G Leong Yaumatei Community Centre, Tuen Mun Tseng Choi Street Community Hall and Tai Po Community Centre for six days from August 29 for electors to get familiar with the voting procedures.

Appointments for group visits to these stations can be made on 2967 0416 and by fax 2834 0934.

A total of 571 ordinary and 24 dedicated polling stations will be open on polling day. The ordinary polling stations and the three dedicated ones set up at police stations will be open from 7.30am to 10.30pm while the 21 dedicated ones in penal institutions will be open from 9am to 4pm.

Information about the election is available on the election website.
