Secretary for the Civil Service Clement Cheung visited the Civil Engineering & Development Department today to meet its staff and learn about their work.
After meeting Director of Civil Engineering & Development Daniel Chung and directorate staff, he visited the Geotechnical Engineering Office to learn about geological surveying, the Aerial Photo Library, the application of remote sensing techniques in slope safety management, natural terrain hazard studies, and developing cavern and underground space.
Mr Cheung also toured the Fill Management Division of the Civil Engineering Office where he was briefed on managing public fill reception and construction waste sorting facilities, as well as managing disposal facilities for dredged or excavated sediment.
He then met staff representatives at a tea gathering and encouraged them to continue to providing high quality services to meet Hong Kong's development needs.
