Climate challenge

Climate challenge:  Chief Secretary Carrie Lam tours the "Climate Change - Our Response" exhibition.

Chief Secretary Carrie Lam, Secretary for Education Eddie Ng and Secretary for the Environment KS Wong today opened the "Climate Change - Our Response" exhibition to mark the Science in the Public Service campaign's 10th anniversary.

During her speech at the ceremony, Mrs Lam noted that the Government established the steering committee on Climate Change to formulate long term strategies for tackling the challenges brought about by climate change.

As chairman of the committee, she will steer and co-ordinate the Government's climate action in respect of mitigation, adaptation and resilience.

Science in the Public Service is a joint campaign by 50 government bureaus, departments and collaborating organisations that promotes their scientific achievements and the application of science and technology in providing services.

To mark the campaign's 10th anniversary, "Climate Change - Our Response" was chosen as this year's theme to promote the message of combating climate change to the public and to urge all sectors of society to be proactive.

The roving exhibition will run from June 3 to November 20 at 10 venues including Hong Kong Central Library, Times Square and Kowloon Park.
