Chief Executive CY Leung met the visiting Premier and Minister for the Arts of Queensland, Australia, Annastacia Palaszczuk today.
Mr Leung said Hong Kong and Australia enjoy close economic and trade ties. As an international financial and trade centre, Hong Kong can act as a super-connector for Australian enterprises to connect with the market on the Mainland to open up more business opportunities.
He said Hong Kong plays an active role in facilitating the implementation of the Mainland's Belt & Road Initiative. He said Hong Kong and Australia should enhance economic and trade co-operation to tap the vast development opportunities brought about by the initiative.
The Hong Kong Government is committed to promoting development in the arts, culture, innovation and technology, he said, calling for strengthened co-operation and exchanges in these areas between Hong Kong and Australia.
