84 civil servants praised

November 05, 2015

Secretary for the Civil Service Clement Cheung has presented awards to 84 civil servants for their meritorious achievements.

Mr Cheung thanked the awardees from 33 bureaus and departments at a presentation ceremony today, and commended them for their contributions to the Government and the community.

"I encourage all colleagues to continue providing distinguished and reliable public services, [and continue] working together to build a harmonious and united society," he said.

One of the awardees, Ip Wing-Sing, has worked at the Hong Kong Observatory for more than 27 years and is responsible for the design, setup and maintenance of electronic equipment including radar, computer-operated instruments and remote systems.

He said helping Hong Kong to hold the equestrian competitions for the 2008 Olympics was one of his career highs.

Another awardee Carol Chung, who served in the Civil Aid Service for more than 23 years, has been called to action in various major disaster operations in Hong Kong and abroad, including the SARS operation in 2003 and the 2004 tsunami.

Chief Executive CY Leung also hailed the award recipients at a cocktail reception.
