Chief Executive CY Leung says he agrees with Hong Kong University Vice-Chancellor Peter Mathieson’s response to the media, refuting the allegation that the two had discussed the appointment of the university's pro-vice-chancellor.
Speaking to reporters today, Mr Leung said he must meet with university management for different legitimate purposes, for example on collaboration between Hong Kong universities and overseas and Mainland universities.
He reiterated that he did not interfere with the appointment of the university’s pro-vice-chancellor.
On the newly appointed Lingnan University Council, Mr Leung said the appointees are all capable people, adding that the Government will continue to appoint the best people to public offices based on merit.
