Property cooling measures to stay

September 29, 2015

The Government will not relax property cooling measures at this stage, as housing remains a serious problem and most families still consider property prices unaffordable, Chief Executive CY Leung says.

Speaking to reporters ahead of an Executive Council meeting this morning, Mr Leung said the Government will continue to increase the housing supply to solve the long-term shortage.

He added that the cooling measures are still needed to curb property speculation, investment and demand from people outside Hong Kong.

Mr Leung also cited media reports detailing that new private housing supply is expected to increase in the coming quarter.
