Occupiers urged to remove Tamar tents

June 22, 2015

The Lands Department posted a statutory notice this morning, requiring people camped outside the Legislative Council complex and Central Government Offices at Tamar to remove their belongings before June 24.

The department noted that from mid-December until now, marquees, tents and other items have been unlawfully occupying the pavement of Tim Mei Avenue, Legislative Council Road and Harcourt Road.

The Government has repeatedly urged people to remove them and has also stated clearly that it has the responsibility to protect the public's right to use the roads, as well as to ensure public safety, order and health.

The department urges people to comply with the directions of the notice, to cease occupation of the said land and remove all marquees, tents and other items before the deadline.

It said it will take actions to clear the site any time after the deadline without further notice.

Any items it takes will become Government property. The items will not be returned and may be disposed of as the authorities think fit.
