Chief Executive CY Leung expressed hope today that the co-location of boundary control arrangements for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link could be achieved, as it would offer more convenience for commuters and enhance developments between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Speaking to reporters ahead of an Executive Council meeting this morning, Mr Leung said the arrangement has the support of the Central Government, but it also needs to comply with Hong Kong laws.
He said a large number of Mainland people come to Hong Kong every day, and a greater number of Hong Kong residents travel to the Mainland, adding that the rail link will make cross-boundary travel easier, as well as help strengthen Hong Kong's economic and social development with the Mainland.
