Chief Executive CY Leung says Guangdong’s economic growth is enviable and forms a foundation for Hong Kong’s economic development.
Mr Leung today led a Hong Kong delegation to Guangdong to attend the 17th Plenary of the Hong Kong-Guangdong Co-operation Joint Conference.
Guangdong Provincial Committee Secretary Hu Chunhua met the delegation before the meeting.
Mr Hu said the province's economy has been growing steadily, with over 7% growth in the first three quarters of this year, adding that both sides can continue to bolster co-operation to support mutual economic development.
Mr Leung said he envies Guangdong's fast economic growth, which Hong Kong depends upon, adding that co-operation between the two sides has transcended commerce, going into areas like livelihood.
He said Hong Kong is discussing a new CEPA arrangement with the Ministry of Commerce and hopes to achieve service trade liberalisation with Guangdong, and looks forward to the province's continued support.
