Senior pay rise broached

October 30, 2014

The Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries & Conditions of Service submitted its report on the Civil Service Pay Level Survey 2013 to the Chief Executive today, suggesting a salary rise for senior civil servants from this month.

Pay data from 128 private sector organisations was collected to match with 162 civil service benchmark jobs in 59 grades.

The survey indicated the lower grades ranging from job level 1 to 4 are broadly comparable. However, those at job level 5 are 8% lower than their counterparts.

An upward adjustment was suggested for grade 5, while other grades remain unchanged.

The Civil Service Bureau said it will consult major staff organisations and the Legislative Council Panel on Public Service on the survey suggestions, and submit its recommendations to the Chief Executive-in-Council.
