Lawful rallies urged

August 19, 2014

Chief Executive CY Leung calls on people to express their views in a peaceful, rational and lawful manner and not to use means that upset society’s order and stability.

Speaking to the media today, Mr Leung said Hong Kong is an open society that respects different opinions, noting there are issues over which people disagree.

People who organise activities such as demonstrations to voice their opinions have different ideas on how these activities should be arranged. They must consider whether such activities are lawful, and whether they will upset order and stability, he added.
