Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing will attend the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games opening ceremony in Nanjing on August 16.
He will meet and support the Hong Kong athletes competing in the games. He will also inspect the Youth Olympics Village.
The games are held every four years.
This year 18 Hong Kong athletes will compete in the badminton, equestrian, fencing, golf, windsurfing, table tennis, triathlon and swimming competitions.
Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong on August 18.
